What to Expect at Origin
If you decide to come to one our gatherings
this is what you should expect to experience:
You’ll be greeted
by someone casually dressed and probably drinking a latte. This person
will most likely hand you something; not to worry it’s just a resource
for you!
You can sit anywhere you like; there is no preferred seating! Toward the beginning ofour gathering a group of musicians will walk onto the stage. They will begin to play music and sing; if you’d like you can sing too. Don’t be freaked out if the person next to you stands up; that’s the way they like to worship God. After the worship team is finished, a young good looking (subject to debate) guy will welcome everyone and extend an invitation to mingle. We’ve discovered that people warm up to meeting new people if they can first get a coffee; so feel free to make your way to the complimentary coffee bar!
After meeting some new people, you can begin to make your way back to your seat. By the way, you don’t have to sit in the same seat you were sitting in when you first arrived! Don’t worry it’s a common trait of humans. We also like to use video, drama, and dance to help us emphasize the point we’re trying to make. Enjoy it!
Then a young 28-year-old guy with a slight Australian accent will get on the stage and probably sit on his favorite stool. He’ll welcome you again and invite you to engage your thoughts on what he’d like to share with you. He might make you laugh; it’s okay to laugh at our gatherings. If you feel like crying, well, that’s okay too. After he’s done, he’ll probably close in prayer and thank God for all he is doing in our lives. Don’t be in a hurry to leave. Make yourself at home. After we are done, we like to take Origin outside the four walls and hang out.
